These are images created from photographs taken on a visit to Dresden. The reconstruction of Dresden after the bombing of the town at the end of the second world war impressed on me that this was a city that bears scars of destruction but which has triumphed by rebuilding the baroque cathedral and associated buildings. I painted the details of the views from the cathedral distorted through the hand-made glass of the windows. The disturbances created by the glass speaks of the traces of the damage of the past now changed in these images to rhythmic and lively compositions.
